Warsaw

interesting residential and office architecture, cultural and congress centres

WARSAW, POLAND

Rapid economic growth, support from the EU and international investments have facilitated urban housing production and construction in Poland. Warsaw has interesting residential and office architecture, as well as cultural and congress centres. The Kraków and Katowice regions are also examples of interesting urban development.

The rapid growth of Warsaw has resulted in new museums, office buildings and large residential and commercial blocks. Urban areas are emerging in Warsaw, with high-quality apartments and carefully designed green areas counterbalancing the busy traffic in this city of two million people.

In Warsaw, you can study interesting office buildings and residential construction projects, as well as city culture sites, such as the conversion of the Koszyki market hall into an oasis of restaurants. The integration of riverside areas into green zones and recreational areas also includes protection from floods.

New museums have been built to showcase Polish art, theatre, film and history. One of the newest museums is the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, designed by the Finnish agency Lahdelma & Mahlamäki Architects.

The high-speed rail service in Poland makes it possible to visit Kraków and Katowice during the same trip. In Katowice, an old coal mine area has recently been converted into a zone of cultural buildings and urban parks. Kraków has impressive new museum buildings and congress centres.
